Day 1: Hanoi – Nghia Lo (L, D)
8 am: Our guide will pick you up at the hotel and start your journey to Nghia Lo and Tu Le via Thanh Son, Thu Cuc road 32. On the way, we will spend 1.5 - 2 hrs at Vietnam Ethnic Village. The village displays traditional houses and showcases the culture as well as life of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam. We will introduce you to the feature groups in North Vietnam which include the Mong, Thai, Dao and Tay groups.
Leave Vietnam Ethnic Village, we can take a break to enjoy the Milk products or Green Tea hill in Phu Tho province.
Arrive Nghia Lo town in the afternoon, check-in homestay and take a few minutes break before going on a short cycle trip to explore the Thai village –the home of Thai people in Vietnam. Cycle between rice fields, beside the stream, visit the house, chat with locals or say hello to the friendly & cute children beside the road.
Back to homestay, enjoy the good meals and sleep on the stilt house- the traditional house of Thai people.
If you travel in a group of 6 people, there will be a traditional performance with local songs and dance.
Day 2: Nghia Lo - Mu Cang Chai ( L, D)
8 am: After breakfast, we leave Nghia Lo to Mu Cang Chai, where we can see the real and beautiful rice terraces field. You will be surprised before the wonderful rice terrace along the route of Tu Le – Mù Cang Chải.
Run over the Khau Pha pass, one of the four greatest passes in Northern Vietnam, connecting Tu Le and Mu Cang Chai. We’ll cross Tu Le town, and you’ll have the chance to see the interesting activities of Thai women in Tu Le making the “Com-green rice”, the famous special product of Tu Le along the road during the harvest season. Most scenic roads which offer a lot of stops for picturing as the viewpoint to see the Lim Mong, Lim Thai village or paragliding-point on the top of this pass.
Arrive in Mu Cang Chai, where we will take 3 – 4 hrs (13km) to trek from Che Cu Nha village to Kim Noi village – where we will sleep in the stilt house of Thai people.
For the trek, we will go up to the high mountain, pass the Hmong village, a remote waterfall and visit a kindergarten school. From above, we can see the magnificent view of rice terrace fields, visit some schools, play a game or sing with children. Besides seeing the beauty of rice fields, you will be guided on how to plant rice, harvest rice or discover the farm with working locals. It will be an exciting experience. Enjoy stunning landscapes along the way, spectacular views of countryside and nature, visit local villages, experience the daily life of hill tribe people and see how traditional clothes are made.
We will arrive Kim Noi village, enjoy dinner and sleep on the stilt house of Thai people.
Day 3: Mu Cang Chai –Tu Le
After our breakfast, depending on the season and rice status, we will choose the best view to do trekking tour. We can spend 1 - 2 hrs in the morning to continue trekking across some villages with beautiful rice field such as Lao Chai village (10km transfer by car from homestay and 3km by foot) or Sang Nhu village (2km transfer by car and 2km by foot)
After leaving the village, we will transfer by car to the next trekking destination. We will begin trekking from Mam Xoi rice terrace to La Pan Tan village (3 - 4 hrs) – one of the most famous destinations, where the round shaped rice terraces were built by hand of H’mong people since hundreds of years ago.
Leave La Pan Tan, and we make our way to Tu Le town, where we will spend around 2 hrs to walk around the field and village. Get to enjoy the rice field, explore the life, house and culture of Thai people. After trekking, we can enjoy the Hot Spring – where villagers often gather together to take their daily bath.
Dinner and sleep in the hotel.
Distance: Around 15-16km
Time: Around 5-6hrs
Day 4: Tu Le- Ha Noi
5 – 6 am: If you want to see the sunrise, you can wake up early and head over to the rice field that is near the hotel to witness the stunning sight.
After that, we will drive straight back to Nghia Lo - Yen Bai city - Hanoi, reaching around 6 - 7 pm. Our guide will say goodbye & hope to see you again on another journey.
