Day 1: Hanoi – Vu Linh (Thac Ba lake) (180km) 

In the morning, the guide will spend 30 minutes to do a briefing about the trip and how to ride in Vietnam. Also, you will get to familiarise yourself with the bike before we start our trip to Thac Ba Lake which has an area of 23000 ha and over 1300 islands and hills with diverse ecological environments. The first stop will be Vu Linh, where the ethnic village of Dao minority is located. Take your time and explore this beautiful village by the lake as its people go about doing their work.

Tonight, the welcome will be exceptional with lots of local rice-wine from our local hosts. This will surely be one of the highlights of the trip. Overnight in homestay.

Day 2:  Vu Linh – Ha Giang (180km)

After breakfast, ride along the Thac Ba lake on a small road lined by palm trees and scenic mountain views to join the National road No 2 heading up to Ha Giang where we stop for the night. Before getting to the Tay village where we will have our homestay, we should stop at Ha Giang city to get a permit for the Motorbike tour to the Dong Van Rock Plateau and frontier area in following days.

Eat dinner & sleep in a stilt house in Thon Tha community-based tourism village – the village of Tay ethnic people.

Day 3: Ha Giang – Đồng Văn (160km)

Leaving Ha Giang, the road climbs over the Quan Ba pass (Heaven’s Gate). The road winds over a saddle and opens up on to an awesome vista.

Dropping into Yen Minh through pine forest, it is worth stopping for drink and lunch. Drive pass Pho Bang town – the quiet & secret Phố Cáo, Sủng Là – The village of H’Mong people. They are located in the middle of the Rocky Mountains, a deep colour, solid & old traditional houses. It will once again be a very enjoyable ride today as you will see amazing mountainous view of the Rock Plateau.

If we drive in the spring, this land will be bright with the colour of pink trees – the traditional flower in Tet holiday in Vietnam. If you travel in the autumn, you will be surprised by the beauty of the local flower – The Buckwheat flower.

Also, stop and visit the infamous Vuong Palace, Vuong Family was considered the King of the Hmong People in Dong Van, Ha Giang. Their residence was built in the scenic valley of Sa Phin with Chinese architecture. The whole house was built out of wood and rock only. The rocks for the buildings were imported from China. Vuong Family Residence is a masterpiece of work in the valley of heavenly beauty of Sa Phin. Overnight & enjoy coffee in Dong Van Old quarter

Day 4:  Dong Van –Meo Vac- Bao Lac (110km)

After breakfast, we leave for Lung Cu flag pole at around 8 am. It will be another amazing ride. Lung Cu flagpole is about 25km from the centre of Dong Van district. Lung Cu mount, also referred to as “a high forehead of the motherland”, marks the extreme North of Vietnam. From its top, visitors can see the whole of the landscape’s beautiful and spectacular views. When we are in Lung Cu, we can leave our bikes and walk to visit a small village around the area.

Turn around back to Dong Van, then, drive to the peak of Ma Pi Leng which gives stunning views of the mountains and sweeping valleys. You will be not be disappointed as it is the gateway to the best road trip in Vietnam, the 22km that snakes its way along the mountainside to Meo Vac. The road has been cut into the side of the cliff face, far below is the distant water of Nho Que River while towering above is the rock face of a mighty gorge.

In the afternoon, we will ride downhill, along the river and see the different mountain view(less rocky and more green). Stay in Bao Lac.

Day 5: Bao Lac Motorcycle Tours to Cao Bang City

Beautiful motor-ride down to Cao Bang province. The road is easy but there are many blind curves. We can stop often for photos in Nguyen Binh and Tinh Tuc.

Cao Bằng has several points of historical interest as well as many natural features such as the Pac Bo (at the mouth of the confluence of two rivers, the Bằng Giang and Hien rivers) where Hồ Chí Minh in January 1941 established a revolutionary force at Cốc Bó cave, the Mạc King’s Temple, the Kỳ Sầm Temple, Coi Bin Church and the Bản Giốc waterfall area at the international border between Vietnam and China, and the Thang Hen Mountain Lake.

Day 6: Cao Bang Motorcycle Tours to Ban Gioc waterfall – Cao Bang(B, L, D)

After breakfast at the homestay, you will depart for Trung Khanh which lies on the border of China. Here you will have the chance to meet the Nung people in the village of Phuoc Sen, a mountainous village famous for its traditional blacksmith craft. The farming tools made here are an integral part of the lifestyle which is evident in the surrounding rice paddies and fields. Nestled in amongst these amazing landscapes is the breathtaking Ban Gioc Waterfall which spans over 300 meters, half in Vietnam and half in China. 

You will have time to soak up the powerful atmosphere of the falls and take some fantastic photos before heading to another natural wonder, Nguom Ngao Cave. This cave stretches out over 2,144 meters underground and is brimming with incredible stalactites and stalagmites. You will then make your way to return Cao Bang town.

Day 7: Cao Bang- Ba Be Lake (B, L, D)

After breakfast, we will be going down the snake pass to Ba Be Lake.

Ba Bể Lake (Vietnamese: Ba means “Three”, Bể is from the Tay language word pé, meaning “lake”) is the largest natural lake in Vietnam. Ba Bể Lake is a featured geographical science and is a biodiversity reservoir. It is a part of the Ba Be National Park. It is home to a range of animals and plants.


You can relax on board, do some wildlife spotting or if you need to cool off, you can jump into the cool, clean waters for a refreshing swim! As you float on Ba Be Lake, you can take in the scenery of the surrounding karsts decorated with patches of wild vegetation and inhabited by all sorts of interesting creatures. The boat ride along the Nang River, with time to explore the stunning Ba Be Lake & the caves of Puong Grot, where you can explore the unique looking stalactites and stalagmites which are a result of the erosion of the river on the karst. Additionally, get to look out for the bat colony which consist of several thousand of bats within the cave.

Afterwards, move on to Pac Ngoi village which is situated at Ba Be Lake's side. The village is a community-based tourism is hosted by the Tay people. At the homestay, you can relax and unwind from the day and enjoy a meal of home cooked local food.

Day 8: Ba Be Lake – Hanoi (B, L)

You will depart for the journey back to Hanoi, a drive of approximately 150 miles (230 kilometres). We will stop at some hills tea plant before returning to your hotel in the bustling city of Hanoi.

Detailed ItineraryDay 1: Hanoi - Nghia Lo (L/D)8:00 am: Our guide will pick-up you at the hotel and start the journey to Nghia Lo and Tu Le via Thanh Son, Thu Cuc road 32. On the way, we will spend 1.5 - 2 hrs at Vietnam Ethnic Village. The village displays traditional houses and showcases the culture as well as life of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam. We will introduce you to the feature groups in North Vietnam which include the Mong, Thai, Dao and Tay groups. Leave Vietnam Ethnic Village, we can take a break to enjoy the Milk products or Green Tea hill in Phu Tho province.Arrive Nghia Lo town in the afternoon, check-in homestay and take a few minutes break before starting on a short cycle trip to explore the Thai village – the home of Thai people in Vietnam. Cycle between rice fields and enjoy the peaceful sight of ducks, chickens, pigs and buffalos. Observe the quiet manual labour of the villagers, visit the house, chat with locals or say hello to the friendly & cute children beside the road. Head back to the homestay, enjoy tasty meals and sleep on stilt houses, the traditional house of Thai people.If you travel in a group of 6 people, there will be a traditional performance with local songs and dance. Day 2: Nghia Lo - Mu Cang Chai (B/L/D)8:00 am: After breakfast, we leave Nghia Lo to Mu Cang Chai, where we can see the real and beautiful rice terrace fields. You will be surprised by the wonderful rice terrace along the route from Tu Le - Mù Cang Chải.Run over the Khau Pha pass (one of the four greatest passes in Northern Vietnam with 40km, connect Tu Le and Mu Cang Chai). We’ll cross Tu Le town, you’ll have the chance to see the interesting activities of Thai women in Tu Le making the “Com – green rice” – the famous special product of Tu Le along the road during the harvest season (Sep-Oct). Most scenic roads offer a lot of stops for picturing as the viewpoint to see the Lim Mong, Lim Thai village or paragliding-point on the top of this pass. Upon arriving in Mu Cang Chai, we will spend 1-2 hrs trek to Mam Xoi rice terrace – one of the most famous destinations, where the round shape of rice terraces was built by hand of H’mong people since hundreds of years ago. Lunch is served along trekking path. Leave Mam Xoi, there are 2 options for customers:+ If you are strong trekker, we can spend 3h - 3.5hrs (13km) for trekking from Che Cu Nha village to Kim Noi village – where we will sleep in the stilt house of Thai people. For the trek, we will go up to the high mountain, pass the Hmong village, a remote waterfall and visit a kindergarten school. From above, we can see the magnificent view of rice terrace fields, visit some schools, play a game or sing with children. Besides seeing the beauty of rice fields, you will be guided on how to plant rice, harvest rice or discover the farm with working locals. It will be an exciting experience. Enjoy stunning landscapes along the way, spectacular views of countryside and nature, visit local villages, experience the daily life of hill tribe people and see how traditional clothes are made.+ If you are a little weaker and have a shorter time, we can spend 2-2,5hrs for trekking around Sang Nhu village which is near the centre town with stunning rice fields.5-6pm, We will arrive Kim Noi village, enjoy dinner and sleep in the stilt house of Thai People. Day 3: Mu Cang Chai - Sapa (B/L/D)After breakfast, we will drive from Mu Cang Chai through Tan Uyen and then to Sapa. The road is very dramatic with many hairpins, each opening up a new vista of the mountains, and crossing the Sin Ho pass. You will have lunch in Sapa and have a chance to look around. Then you will trek to Giang Ta Chai village, where you will have dinner and overnight in a Dao's ethnic house Day 4: Sa Pa - Bac Ha (B/L/D)We set off early and drive to Bac Ha. If it is a Sunday, we will head over to the market, one of the most colourful markets in the north. You can become an expert in spotting the different ethnic costumes, and enjoy the antics of the livestock market. There are marvellous photo opportunities at these markets. After lunch in a local restaurant, we will visit the palace of Hoang A Tuong. A curious mixture of baroque and oriental that was built in 1920 with the aid of the French. Then we will drive up a small mountain road with views of the most amazing rice terraces, with villages dotted here and there. We reach the Ban Phung village and have a chance to see the La Chi ethnic people. The ladies dress in black knee-length skirts and jackets with a little delicate coloured embroidery, their heads wrapped in a strip of cloth knotted around their hair. They have a tough life up in these mountains, often carrying a heavy load in a bag from a band on their heads. We will have dinner and overnight at a hotel Day 5:  Bac Ha - Hoang Su Phi (B/L)Upon leaving Bac Ha, we set off on a full day journey through Sin Man to Hoang Su Phi The rough but scenic route traverse a dense jungle before crossing over a pass and ping down to Sin Man. This day is a real challenge for our driver as we travel by winding roads with many uphill and downhill drives. Along the way, we may encounter the Nung Ing, Tay, Red Dao, Dao Ao Dai, La Chi and Co Lao, just some of the many hill tribe groups who have settled there. Dinner on your own, overnight  in Hoang Su Phi Day 6: Hoang Su Phi - Ha Giang (B/L/D)After breakfast, you will leave Phung village and drive down the steep winding road. As you descend through the rice terrace scenery, you will have plenty of stops for more photos, taking in the beauty of the changing morning light on the rice paddies. Drive back through Hoang Su Phi to Ha Giang via the Tan Su Phin Pass and the Cong Troi pass. These are most dramatic passes, and the whole area is full of magnificent views. You will stay overnight in a Tay stilt house. Day 7: Ha Giang - Dong Van (B/L)The remote region of Dong Van and Meo Vac is a land of rugged mountains and beautiful hill villages which are unchanged for centuries.Today we head north-west out of Ha Giang Town towards this northernmost tip of Vietnam. The former H'mong royal house at Sa Phin is the primary attraction of the region, and with the blend of hill tribe people's colourful costumes and the majestic mountainous scenery, the long and bumpy trip will turn into an unforgettable experience. Dinner on your own, overnight in Dong Van. Day 8: Dong Van - Meo Vac - Ha Giang (B/L/D)After breakfast, you will explore Dong Van Old Quarter, trekking to Pu Lo fortress which was built in 1890 and evacuated in 1945. From here you get to enjoy spectacular views of the entire region. Climb up 15 km to the top of the Ma Pi Leng Pass, through a gigantic maze of limestone peaks, stone forests, and canyons before descending into the valley of Meo Vac. You will travel back to Ha Giang for dinner and stay overnight in a riverside bungalow. Day 9: Ha Giang - Hanoi (B/L)You will drive back to Hanoi from Ha Giang, taking a road less travelled. You will follow the river, snaking from pass to pass through the hills of Central North Vietnam. You may find the locals fascinated by you as few tourists ever take that secret yet spectacular route. You will then pay a visit to Duong Lam Ancient Village where you can see hundreds of ancient houses. After a short stop for lunch in local restaurant, you will return to your hotel in Hanoi.

Itinerary Day 1:  Hanoi – Yen Bai city - Nghia Lo (L, D) Our guide will pick you up at the airport. Start your journey to Nghia Lo, Yen Bai. On the road, we will visit in Suoi Giang Commune, Van Chan district to admire the hundred years old – ancient tea trees, which make up the speciality Tea San Snow. The wild tea trees grow in the high mountains with a cool climate all year round. We will have lunch here. Then leave Suoi Giang, continue to Nghia Lo.  Arrive at Nghia Lo town, check in our homestay at a peaceful village of Thai people. Rest on a traditional stilt house. In the afternoon, we embark on a bicycling tour to discover the daily life of the ethnic community in the area and enjoy the beautiful scenery of villages, rice fields or enjoy the Hot Spring. Dinner and overnight at the homestay. Day 2: Nghia Lo - Tu Le – Mu Cang Chai - trekking around villages  (B, L, D)You will be surprised by the beautiful rice terrace along the route from Tu Le - Mù Cang Chải.Run over the Khau Pha pass, one of the four greatest passes in Northern Vietnam, connecting Tu Le and Mu Cang Chai. Sleeping at Homestay at Mu Cang Chai Note: 3- hour drive & 3-4 hour light trek Day 3: Mu Cang Chai – Sapa  (B, L, D) (160km – 4hours drive) After our breakfast, we will spend 3 hours to trek with the local guide from Kim Noi village to Che Cu Nha. Time will also be allocated to look around and experience life in Mu Cang Chai. After lunch at Mu Cang Chai, we transfer to Sapa. We’ll pass by O Quy Ho pass, one of the four greatest pass in Vietnam and it is where the highest peak of Indochina- Mt Fansipan is located. You can enjoy fresh cool air and magnificent landscapes. It will be an unforgettable experience. Stay at Hotel 3* in Sapa. Day 4: Trek up Fansipan (B, L, D) After breakfast at the hotel, we will arrange for the guide and driver to pick you up at the hotel around 8:00 am. You will be transferred by car to Tram Ton Gate to Heaven Gate, the highest peak of roads in Vietnam. From there you can see Mt. Fansipan, continue trekking  The trek will be relatively soft until lunchtime. After a couple of hours of hiking, you will have a break at a nice spot in the forest and enjoy a good lunch. With new energy, you start to hike towards the campsite.  You will have many opportunities to enjoy the scenery and magnificent views of Sapa area and the beautiful landscape of Lai Chau province. You will arrive at the campsite at 2800m ASL in the late afternoon. Now it is time to relax and enjoy a well-prepared dinner. Summary Trekking:   5 hrs/ascend 2,800 m from 1,900 m Accommodation:  Camping Meals:    Lunch, Dinner Day 5: 2800m – the top of Fansipan – Tram Ton – Sapa (B, L, -) After having breakfast, you climb to the top, where you can celebrate your victory. From there, you get to enjoy a breathtaking birds-eye view of the surrounding scenery. You will then trek through a rainforest to go back to the campsite for lunch. After lunch, you start your journey back. You follow the trail as well as stone steps built by Hoang Lien National Park until you reach your car which will take you back to Sapa.
