Ayutthaya History Background
Ayutthaya was the capital city of Thailand for 417 years and have seen the passing of 34 kings from 5 dynasties. Ayutthaya was founded by King U-Thong in 1350 who escaped from the smallpox outbreak in Lopburi. After setting down in Ayutthaya, he then proclaimed it the capital city for his kingdom and it has become the 2nd Siamese capital after Sukhothai.
Ayutthaya is located in the Valley of Chao Phraya River and is on an island like setting as it is surrounded by 3 rivers, the Chao Phraya River, Pa-Sak River and Lopburi River.
The kingdom of Ayutthaya flourished as one of the trading city of the world during its time as traders from China, Vietnam, India and Portugal conduct their businesses here. Some even calls Ayutthaya "The Venice of the East"
Ayutthaya is also gazettled by UNESCO as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the name Ayutthaya Historical Park.

Wat Maha Thart - Royal temple belonging to the third king of Ayutthaya with a large Buddha head inside Bo's tree root.

Wat Phanun Choeng - The first Buddha Image in the assembly hall is 19 meters tall with solid gold on an auspicious sign. This temple is respected by Thai & Chinese following a local legend of Thai prince & Chinese princess.
Wat Budhthai Sawan - this area been the first community of former Ayutthaya kingdom name King U-thong who escaped from smallpox over Lopburi City, later moved to the island with proposed to used river as boundary for protection city from enemies
